There is no shortage of beer in America, but some states definitely have more beer than others. This report maps the number of beer places that users of The Beer Mapping Project have reported across America, broken down by category—beer bars, beer stores, breweries, brewpubs, and homebrew stores.
California ranks highest in the , as well as the highest number of places in each category. This could be because California is the most populous state.
Colorado ranks second highest in the and third in , but interestingly it only ranks eighth in the .
Homebrewing beer was illegal in Alabama and Mississippi, but users added homebrew stores for both states ( and , respectively). Homebrewing has since become legal in both states.
